Awards

  • 2014 Taiwan Landscape Architecture Awards
  • 2009 Taoyuan County Landscape Awards – Special Award for Living Space Creation

Guangfeng Park occupies approximately 1.6 hectares in Bade District, Taoyuan City, on the former site of Guang Feng Industrial’s textile factory. As the area transitioned from industrial use to a mixed commercial and residential district, the park was created as an important public open space that balances urban development, enriches community life, and enhances environmental quality.

Inspired by Taoyuan’s distinctive landscape of ponds and irrigation canals, as well as Guang Feng’s historic roots in the textile industry, the design combines the motifs of water, greenery, and weaving to create a vibrant urban park. A large central pond and expansive green spaces form the park’s core, providing ecological, recreational, and social functions for the surrounding community.

Key Landscape Features

  • Entrance Garden – A welcoming gateway marked by colorful landscape elements and seasonal flower displays.
  • Banyan Memorial Greenway – Preserved mature banyan trees from the former factory site create a shaded promenade and preserve the site's historical memory.
  • Weaving Trail – Curved paving patterns of stone and lawn evoke the imagery of woven textiles while enhancing stormwater infiltration.
  • Canal-Inspired Landscape – Ornamental grasses and flowering plants create flowing, water-like scenery that recalls Taoyuan’s irrigation heritage.
  • Resting Terraces Beneath Mature Trees – Curved seating terraces provide comfortable gathering and viewing areas.
  • Colorful Shrub Gardens – Layered planting and rolling landforms create a rich tapestry of seasonal colors and textures.
  • Cherry Blossom Walk – Rows of cherry and peach trees offer seasonal floral displays and connect visitors to the park’s open lawn areas.
  • Timber Activity Deck – A large wooden platform provides flexible space for community events, performances, and gatherings.
  • Lakeside Performance Stage – A waterside stage framed by royal palms serves as a focal point for cultural activities and public events.
  • Waterfront Promenade – Shaded seating pavilions and boardwalks offer scenic views of the pond and surrounding landscapes.
  • Natural Shoreline Design – Gently sloping edges and aquatic planting create a naturalistic pond environment that supports biodiversity.
  • Jacaranda Grove – A woodland of jacaranda trees introduces seasonal color, dappled shade, and visual interest.
  • Children’s Recreation Area – Skate facilities and sand play areas provide active spaces for younger visitors.
  • Great Lawn and Heritage Trees – Rolling lawns and preserved mature trees from the former factory create one of the park’s most memorable and welcoming spaces.

By integrating cultural heritage, ecological design, and community recreation, Guangfeng Park has transformed a former industrial site into a vibrant public landscape and one of Bade District’s most important urban green spaces.
